But if you're here to get to know me a little better, keep reading.
Born in a small town in Latvia I took my first steps as a photographer when I was presented with "Smena" (very simple film camera) around the age of 12. Photography remained a hobby over years of studying Computer Science and becoming a professional software engineer.
Hungry for new experiences I moved across the ocean to continue my studies. Work with computers made me savvy with the technical part of our world and led me to discover that I was missing artistic expression of my creativity. I kept looking for something that would strike me somehow - call it "destiny"! Took various photography courses and studied literature, experimented with image altering techniques and tested with models, watched various successful artists - all of which helped develop my own eye, taste and skills. Eventually I had my first paid gig and received my first good review from a client.
A lot of things have been read, studied and tried in order to get the confidence I have now. It didn't take any effort to study photography, it was simply happening.
And the information kept coming in without me seeking it out.
On my last "computer" job I realized that my career took me to a place where people make MONEY on companies that make MONEY on their clients (other companies or people like me) who, in turn, try really hard to make MONEY on their MONEY.
[LONG PAUSE]
What do YOU think it looked like to me? I know, I know, it's a part of our lives, but... I was liberated!
By the way, I must mention, that people were exceedingly fantastic everywhere I worked in my "computer" life. REALLY awesome personalities from so many corners of the world with such amazing energies and different perspectives. I couldn't get enough of these people, and yet I had a sit-on-my-butt-in-a-cubicle job without much connection to anyone alive and to the outside world. And we all were being molded into these cubicle beings who are just happy that they've got the job to pay the growing bills, because the satisfaction with life wasn't there - it had to be fed by acquiring new things. Talk about consumerism here...
So, photography naturally was the next thing I started doing to connect with people and the world.
WHERE TO NEXT?
What I dream of is to create things that inspire people. Photos, films, documentaries, art, stories - anything that comes to this world through me, that will INSPIRE all of you to really LIVE. Like I was inspired by many magnificent artists, who brought up the same thing in their interviews, books, biographies, etc. They said - GO FOR IT. LIVE IT. It's your dream, you gotta do it. There's no room to doubt, no room to be scared of what might go wrong, there's only room for GO FOR IT.
DREAM.
Dream big, and get everything that needs to be done - DONE.
Step by step, little by little.
And I get to meet a lot of people. Every single person has a story in them, which they share passionately, fascinating me with their energy, their individual essence. If we all start living up to our potential - what kind of world will we be sharing? Wouldn't it be completely different? It may sound very "J. Lennon" to you. But that's what I believe in.
IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE?
Now that I shared my passion and dreams with you, I need to add that I accept photo assignments from businesses, agencies, and people alike. Every project I get involved in I push a little more than necessary, to make sure that you are happy with what I'm doing and how I'm doing it. Communication, open mind, passion and optimism are keys while we're working together - let's get it done!
I'm excited about what you do, I know you're trying the best you can, and I'll do the best I can to help you with that.
Looking forward to hearing from you~
